Mouse Entry and Soffit Gap Exclusion Service — Markham

Job Overview

Location: Markham, Ontario
Structure: Detached two-storey home with attached garage
Problem: Ongoing mouse activity inside the home
Service: Mice treatment and exterior exclusion
Visits: 3

Summary

We addressed a long-standing interior mouse issue by identifying exterior entry points, performing a licensed rodenticide treatment, and completing targeted soffit exclusion. Follow-up confirmed that activity had ceased and the exclusion remained intact.

Background / Property Context

The property is a brick, two-storey detached home with soffit and eaves running the perimeter. These elevated transitions commonly present small gaps over time that can be used by rodents to access wall cavities.

Customer Concern

The homeowner reported persistent mouse activity indoors over an extended period and requested a professional inspection and treatment to resolve the issue.

Inspection & Findings

During the initial exterior inspection, our team identified potential rodent access points along the soffit line. Photos show gaps at the soffit-to-brick interface that could allow mice to enter behind the soffit and into wall voids. No interior photos were provided.

Cause Analysis

Mice commonly exploit small construction gaps along soffits and rooflines to access sheltered nesting areas. Over time, minor separations at these transitions can form due to weather exposure and building movement. Once established, repeated access can sustain ongoing interior activity.

Treatment / Removal

On the first visit, we performed a mice treatment by placing tamper-resistant bait stations in exterior areas of higher rodent activity. Treatment was carried out by a licensed exterminator in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines. At that time, exclusion was discussed but deferred.

Exclusion & Repairs

On the second visit, the homeowner proceeded with exclusion work. Our team installed approximately 100 linear feet of soffit-to-wall exclusion using galvanized steel mesh and professional-grade sealant. Photos taken after completion show the soffit line sealed continuously to prevent rodent access.

Outcome & Confirmation

At the third visit, the homeowner reported that mouse activity had stopped. We inspected the completed exclusion and found it intact, with no signs of further entry or ongoing interior activity reported from that point forward.
