Location: Markham, Bayview Glen
Structure: Backsplit bungalow with attached garage
Problem: Mice
Service: Interior extermination and exterior exclusion
Visits: Two
Summary
Our team completed a two-visit mouse control service at a backsplit bungalow in the Bayview Glen area of Markham. The work included a full interior and exterior inspection, licensed extermination, sealing of exterior entry points, and installation of exterior bait stations. Following the final visit, no further mouse activity was reported.
Background / Property Context
The property is a backsplit bungalow with an attached garage. This style of structure includes multiple elevation changes and exterior penetrations, which can present potential access points for rodents, particularly as seasonal temperatures drop.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported scratching noises coming from the attic and the presence of mouse droppings in the garage. Activity was first noticed in November as late fall temperatures began to decline.
Inspection & Findings
During the first visit, our technician conducted an interior inspection to identify signs of mouse activity within the ho
me, including attic areas. An exterior inspection was also completed, focusing on common rodent entry locations. Exposed wall vents and areas around the attached garage were identified as likely access points.
Photos provided showed exterior wall vent conditions and the placement locations for exterior bait stations.

Cause Analysis
As temperatures drop in late fall, mice commonly seek warmth and shelter inside residential structures. Exterior wall vents and garage interfaces can provide accessible entry points if not adequately protected. The combination of seasonal pressure and exposed building features contributed to the infestation.
Treatment / Removal
Licensed extermination was performed during the first visit in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines. Interior treatment targeted areas of confirmed activity to address the existing mouse population.
Technician Grant documented active zones and prepared the property for follow-up exclusion work.
Exclusion & Repairs
On the second visit, all identified exterior entry points were sealed to prevent re-entry. Exclusion work focused on wall vents and vulnerable areas around the garage. Exterior bait stations were installed as a first line of defence in areas showing exterior mouse activity.
Outcome & Confirmation
Following the completion of extermination and exclusion, no further mouse activity was reported by the homeowner. The infestation was resolved, and the exterior preventative measures were confirmed to be in place.
Technician Notes
Entry points were sealed during the exclusion visit, and exterior bait stations were placed in locations consistent with observed exterior activity. No safety or access limitations were encountered during either visit.
